ABOUT US

Who we are

SJT Training is a 100% indigenous owned and operated family business deeply rooted in the Northern Territory community. Led by Directors James and Stacey Sing, alongside their daughter Tiayana.

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we offer nationally accredited qualifications and Units of Competency, including High-Risk Work licenses. Our state-of-the-art training equipment includes wheel loaders, excavators, skid steers and more. We are also expanding our equipment range to include dozers, water trucks, and more, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our industry.

How we started

Our Managing Director, James Sing, a native Territorian, serves as the principal Trainer and Assessor. With over 15 years of hands-on experience in civil construction and more than ten years in public service, James recognized a gap in the industry—many heavy plant and equipment operators lacked the necessary real-world experience despite holding certifications. This led to the creation of SJT Training, which focuses on providing genuine, on-plant training to elevate skills and ensure operators are equipped for success in sectors like civil construction, mining, and extraction.

At SJT Training, we believe in practical, hands-on learning. Our training programs are designed to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. We focus on creating inclusive, culturally sensitive environments that support Indigenous and non-Indigenous learners alike, ensuring everyone receives high-quality training and the skills needed to excel in their careers.

Our Mission

At SJT Training, our mission is to empower individuals, particularly within Indigenous communities across the Northern Territory, by providing high-quality, hands-on training in heavy plant and equipment operations. We are dedicated to bridging the gap between qualifications and real-world skills, enhancing employability, and supporting career growth in industries like civil construction, mining, and extraction. Through our commitment to cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, we aim to uplift and develop our local communities, ensuring long-term success and industry excellence.

Our Vision

Our vision is to be a leading force in transforming skills and opportunities across the Northern Territory. We strive to create a future where every individual has access to the training, resources, and support needed to succeed in the workforce. By fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, we aim to raise industry standards and empower communities for generations to come.
